Millie Harvey is a shooting-director for documentary and participatory facilitator committed to creative storytelling that is collaborative, inclusive and empowering for the communities and individuals involved.
She has particular interest in gender development and global health and has directed films, and led projects, in challenging settings including Afghanistan and eastern D.R. Congo, her work has been used to lobby the UK government and has contributed to outlets including the Channel 4 News, PBS and the Lancet. Clients have included Women for Women International, Freedom from Torture, Oxfam and Medical Aid Films. She has a background in commercial directing and has created branded content for companies including World Gold Council, ASOS and Diageo
Currently she is developing the community-led documentary In Our Hands exploring HIV self-testing in Malawi with the World Health Organisation, Malawi-Liverpool Wellcome Trust Clinical Research Programme and Global Health Film initiative.
Millie has an MA in Screen Documentary from Goldsmiths, University of London and a BA in Fine Art from Middlesex University. She has been a steering committee member of the Global Health Film initiative since 2012.
